For the apple pie, separate the eggs. Beat egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff. Beat yolks, butter and sugar until fluffy. Add vanilla sugar. Then stir in the flour (mixed with baking powder) in batches. Then fold in the beaten egg whites.
Grease a loaf pan with butter and pour in the mixture. Cut the peeled apples into slices and cover the mixture with them. You can also stick the slices diagonally into the batter – for those who like to have more of the apples in the cake.
Finally, if you like, sprinkle with hail sugar. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and bake the apple pie for 30-35 minutes.
