Wash and clean strawberries, cut into quarters and place in a tall, tightly-sealing jar with lime wedges. Boil brown sugar with 1/4 l water and the halved vanilla pod for 3 to 4 minutes, remove from heat and let cool. Add rum to the sugar-vanilla mixture and pour it over the strawberries. Close the jar tightly and leave the strawberries to infuse at least overnight.
