For the pasta e fagioli, first dice the bacon and peel and also finely chop the onion. Wash the carrots and celery and cut them into slices. Peel and crush the garlic and dice the tomatoes.

Now heat the oil in a large frying pan. First fry the bacon, then add the onion, the carrot and the celery and roast for 10 minutes.

Then add the tomatoes with a little juice and season with salt and pepper. Cover and simmer gently for 30 minutes.

In the meantime, drain the beans, add them to the sauce after the cooking time, stir and let them thicken further at low temperature.

Meanwhile, cook the pasta until al dente, drain and mix into the bean mixture. Cover and let stand for 5 minutes.
