Have you tried this delicious recipe with red wine?

Remove the peel from the ginger and grate finely. Season powidl with ginger, juice of one lemon, cayenne pepper and salt. Split the braised rib into 4 pieces, marinate in the powidl for min. 2 h (preferably for one night). Quarter the red cabbage and cut into narrow strips. Finely dice the onions.

Remove the ribs from the marinade and let them drain. Heat lard in a casserole and brown the ribs around them. Add onions and steam until translucent. Add the red cabbage, marinade and wine and simmer for 1 1/2 hours with the lid on. Finally, season with salt, pepper and a little ginger, if desired. Serve with boiled potatoes.
