For the marzipan pretzels, cut the butter into small pieces. Crumble them with flour and quickly knead with the other ingredients to a smooth shortcrust pastry. Let it rest in the refrigerator for about 1 hour.

Form a large roll from the dough and cut evenly sized individual pieces from it. On a floured work surface, roll the pieces into 12 cm long strands, bend them into pretzels, place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake them in a preheated oven at 170°C for about 12 minutes.

While still warm, sprinkle the marzipan pretzels with the powdered sugar and vanilla mixture.
