A simple but delicious cake recipe:

Knead butter, sugar, flour, egg, salt and vanilla sugar into a smooth shortcrust pastry. Roll out two thirds of the dough onto the bottom of a cake springform pan (diameter 26 cm ). Form the remaining dough into a roll, place it on the edge of the tart springform pan and pull it up about 3 cm.

Pre-bake for 15 minutes. Then sprinkle with almond kernels and add the well drained cherries on top.

For the icing, mix egg yolks, vanilla sugar, whipped cream, sugar, juice of one lemon and cornstarch. Pour this amount over the cake. Bake until golden brown.
