Instructions:

1. put the meat in a large bowl, mix with ginger, yogurt, garlic, turmeric, chili spice, garam masala, salt, cardamom and cumin and set aside until needed.

2. fry the coconut flakes, almond kernels, poppy seeds and sesame seeds in a frying pan, shaking the pan to prevent the spices from burning.

3. Grind the herb mixture in a food processor. Add back to the roasting pan and stir through with 1 tablespoon of water. Add to meat and mix well.

4. heat some oil in a large saucepan. Fry the onions in it until golden brown and remove from the cooking pot. Fry the meat in the remaining oil for about 5 min, add the onions repeatedly to the cooking pot and roast the whole thing for another 5-7 min. Pour in water and cook covered for 25-30 min. over mild heat, stirring occasionally. Garnish with chili strips and cilantro and serve hot.

Variation Instead of beef, lamb is also suitable for this dish.
