For the Smarties cake with nut base, first prepare the base. To do this, cream the butter and sugar until fluffy. Add the eggs one by one and mix well. Mix the hazelnuts (grated), flour and baking powder, then carefully fold into the butter-sugar-egg mixture.

Grease a springform pan and dust with flour. Pour in the mixture and bake at 180 °C for about 40 minutes. Allow to cool.

For the filling, whip the cream. Add cream stiffener, stirring constantly. Stir in hazelnuts. Chill. Cut the cake base in half (two round flats), spread the filling on one half, place the second half on top. Chill.

For the glaze, melt the white and milk couverture in a water bath. For the decoration, put the straw in the opening of the Smarties wrapper, stick with melted chocolate glaze. Allow to harden.

Then cover the visible part of the straw with chocolate coating. Leave about 4 inches free at the bottom, this is then tucked into the base. Allow to harden again.

Now put some couverture in a small container and let it cool (should become sticky). Gradually stick the smarties to the straw with the cooled couverture. Allow to harden and then stick into a desired part of the base.

Spread the chocolate coating evenly over the top of the cake. Sprinkle Smarties on top before the chocolate coating hardens.

For the decoration, split KitKat in half and cover smooth end up, all around with chocolate coating.
