A great cake recipe for any occasion:

Flour, powdered sugar, fat, egg and salt in a wide shape. First mix with dough hook of hand mixer and then prepare with your hands into a smooth dough. Wrap in plastic wrap, put to cool for half an hour.

Season milk with vanillin sugar, salt and lemon zest and bring to the boil. Stir in semolina and let it boil again.

Separate the eggs. Whip egg whites until stiff. Stir egg yolks with 2 tbsp. water, add to semolina. Fold in the snow. Heat the jam. Roll out 2/3 of the dough on a floured surface, spread it on the baking pan of the oven, spread with 3 tbsp. jam. Smooth the poppy seeds on top.

Roll out the rest of the dough and roll out strips about 2 cm wide. Place as a grid on the poppy seed mixture. Bake in heated oven (electric oven 200 °C / convection oven 180 °C / gas stove level 3) for about 45 minutes, cool cake. Brush lattice with remaining jam, dust with powdered sugar.
