Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 220 °C.

Score a cross into the top of the fresh chestnuts with a small sharp knife.

Place the chestnuts in an ovenproof dish and cover the bottom with a little water.

Additionally, place a small bowl of water in the oven and bake the chestnuts for about 30 minutes.

Once the shell curves and the chestnuts can be easily removed from the shell, you know the chestnuts are done.

However, while the chestnuts are baking in the oven, make sure they don’t stick to the pan and add more water if necessary.
