Bring sauerkraut to a boil with 2 cups of hot water.
Add apple pieces and juniper berries. After 15 min. add onion cubes browned in butter to cabbage form and season with tomato ketchup and vinegar.
Mix flour with eggs, salt, finely chopped parsley and a quarter of a liter of water until smooth. From a damp board, scrape sparrows into the boiling salted water. When they float to the top, remove. Melt remaining butter and mix with cheese into sparrows.
Serve the sparrows with the cabbage.
