For the cola chicken, peel and chop the onion, garlic and ginger. Make a marinade with the above ingredients. Add onion, garlic and ginger. Taste to see if salt or sambal is needed.
Wash the chicken legs and pat dry. Then place in a large oven dish and pour the marinade over them. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
The next day, preheat the oven to 185 degrees. Remove the plastic wrap and place the oven dish in the oven. The cola chicken has a cooking time of about 2.5 hours.
Turn everything once after every half hour. The Cola-Hendl is cooked when the liquid has largely evaporated and the chicken legs have developed a sticky layer. The meat comes off the bone easily.
